Today’s bride is more open minded, free and sexy. Everything in our society changes and wedding photography follows modern fashion and glamour trends. The modern bride look is different from the one 10, 20, 50 years ago.
It’s been a while when portraiture has been the only style in wedding photography.
Now as a modern photographer I shoot more reportage and candid. I chase for emotions and people love it. 21st century bride looks like a celebrity and the wedding photographer needs to have experience, glamour and fashion approach to her.
The 20th century was the heyday of portraiture in wedding photography. The majority of photos being taken at weddings during that period used to be flash-lit portraits and family formals. The end of the 20th century was the start of the digital photography era. Prices per click went down. People started exploring more and more and took on some creative approaches in their photography. And here came the problem. All brides became equal. I’m watching photos of my friends’ weddings. Everything in those photos looks the same, only the faces are different.
It’s a double side problem. I call it “the average problem”. The average photographer just goes to shoot a wedding. Many people decided to become wedding photographers because they assumed it was easy. Yes, to click the trigger is easy but to be able to tell a story in a is different. The average bride worries about all other things except the one which keep the memories of the big day alive – the photos.
We live in an ever changing society. Everything around us changes really fast. And wedding photography certainly follows many modern trends. Today’s bride is open minded, willing to explore new ideas, free and sexier than ever. Her look totally different from the way brides used to look those 50, 25, even 10 years ago. This has a lot to do with the dominant type of photography. It’s been a while since formal portraiture used to be the style of many people’s choice in wedding photography.
As a modern photographer my style is primarily reportage and candid. I strive to capture people’s emotions. My brides looks like a celebrities and the wedding photographer needs to have experience, glamour and fashion approach to her.
The modern bride knows that the wedding is not the only time for wedding photos. The best time for this is after the wedding. When she has time and ideas for stylish fashion, glamour, portrait … photos. I’m always happy to complete your modern ideas.
